Title: Flip’s Role in Shaping Future Learning Experiences

Guest: Andy Knueven, Education Evangelist at Flipgrid

Show Highlights:

- Andy shares his educational background and journey, from teaching special education and 5th grade math/science to becoming a tech coach and working with Flipgrid (now Flip). He has always had a passion for making learning fun and empowering for students.

- Flip was created by Dr. Charlie Miller to connect with his university students and allow them to respond to questions/prompts. It allows all students an equitable opportunity to share their voice and be heard.

- Flip can be used to track student growth over time - great for parent conferences, IEP meetings, etc. The video responses provide evidence of learning.

- New features like threaded comments allow for meaningful discourse between students. Teachers can also provide private feedback to students.

- Math Solver and Topic CoPilot are excellent AI features to help generate math problems, questions and sentence stems. Immersive Reader provides text reading, vocabulary help and more.

- Tips for new Flip users: start small, edit existing topics in the Discovery Library, use it for check-ins, goal setting and reflections. Ask the Flip community for help and ideas!

- Working with Flip has expanded Andy's empathy and given him a global perspective on how teachers everywhere are using Flip to transform learning. His "edu-kryptonite" is keeping up with the rapid pace of change.

- Andy's billboard: "You can even learn" - a growth mindset reminder that we can always improve.

Key Quotes:

"Hearing [students'] responses was what I mean, that's what's energizing - to know that what we do as teachers, it's helping our students set themselves up for success later on."

"Don't think it's 1 and done or 1 big unit...Do it in small bits and you see growth for your students."

"With accessibility features like immersive reader...now [content] can be opened up, translated, broken down...students can watch and replay."

"There's never a wrong time to make sure that you are saying [students'] name correctly."
