Understanding the need for constant learning and professional growth, I've been focusing my energy, for the past few years, in developing instructional units to be used in teacher professional development. My emphasis is on the integration of technology to enhance teaching and transform learning. Whether the classroom is in a 1:1 program or there is only a set of devices for student use, I can help teachers develop lessons that maximize the use of technology into their daily lessons. The purpose is to leverage the available technology and provide our students with relevant and meaningful learning experiences that will prepare them for jobs that might not exist yet.
I have been a middle school teacher for almost 15 years. I've taught middle school science and English language arts and reading (ELAR) in 7th and 8th grades. I have also held numerous leadership capacity roles in my campus, such as Site Based Decision Making Committee chair for two years from 2005-2007. I've been ELAR department chair and Science Department chair for a total of 9 years -4 and 5 respectively. For four years (2015, 2016, 2017, & 2018) I was also the summer school lead teacher, placing me as an administrator in charge of over 300 students and 30 staff members. In 2017, I decided to pursue my Masters of Education in Educational Technology. I feel this degree will allow me to extend my reach.
