I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Alyshahn, the Chief Revenue Officer at Goosechase, and Sara Appleby, an instructional coach who uses Goosechase in her school. It was a fascinating discussion about how scavenger hunts and interactive games can amplify student engagement and creativity.
Alyshahn shared the origin story of Goosechase - how it started as a fun activity in college and eventually evolved into a robust platform used by schools and organizations worldwide. Teachers immediately saw the potential for Goosechase to facilitate collaborative, kinesthetic learning experiences. The Goosechase team actively solicits educator feedback to continuously improve the product for the classroom.
Sara discussed how Goosechase energizes both students and teachers. She uses it for professional development so teachers can experience the platform firsthand. They’ve designed Goosechases aligned to curriculum standards across multiple content areas. Students are highly engaged as they work collaboratively, think critically, and produce creative artifacts like videos and photos. It’s learning that feels more like play.
Alyshahn and Sara offered excellent advice for educators interested in trying Goosechase. Start small - you don’t need dozens of missions right away. Let the students play and figure it out themselves - they’ll pick it up quickly. And don’t be afraid to think outside the box for how you might use it creatively in your context.
I’m thrilled to have learned so much about how Goosechase can take learning beyond the classroom walls and traditional worksheets. It facilitates active, social, and experiential learning that sticks with students long-term. I’m excited to share this platform with more educators to help them amplify engagement and creativity.
