Celebrating Be An Author Month with Book Creator

I am incredibly excited to share a tool that has made a massive impact on how educators create, share, and empower their students during Be An Author Month—Book Creator. You may have heard of it before, but if not, let me tell you why it is one of the most inclusive and dynamic tools in the EdTech space.
I had the privilege of reconnecting with the amazing Katie Fielding, the Educational Content Manager at Book Creator, who gave me a fantastic look at what this tool offers, especially during Be An Author Month in March.
Book Creator allows students to create digital books, but here is the thing: it is not just about writing a book. It is about showing mastery of a concept, telling a personal narrative, or exploring ideas through different media—audio, video, text, and images. The possibilities are endless. And best of all, it is incredibly inclusive. One of the things I love most about Book Creator is how it fosters accessibility. From text to speech for PDFs to multi-language support, it is a tool that breaks down barriers, making learning engaging and accessible for all students and that is a huge win in any classroom.
Katie shared with me some exciting updates, like the Text to Speech feature for PDFs—now students can import a PDF into their book, and it will read aloud to them in a variety of voices. Imagine how that helps struggling readers, ELL students, or those with disabilities. With Book Creator’s ability to record audio and video, students can respond to prompts and showcase their learning in a variety of ways.
One of the key features that Katie highlighted is the Be An Author Month competition. Every March, Book Creator celebrates the power of storytelling by inviting students from around the world to create and share their personal narratives. This is an excellent opportunity for students to find their voice and share their stories in ways that may have never been possible before. Plus, the prizes are pretty awesome, with opportunities for students to win Kindles and even get their books printed!
If you are a teacher looking to jump into Be An Author Month, or just wanting to explore what Book Creator can do for your classroom, they have a fantastic hub with templates, resources, and guides to help get you started. It is all about making storytelling accessible and empowering students to express themselves creatively.
Katie shared so many great ideas for using Book Creator across grade levels. Whether you are in early elementary and teaching letter sounds or in high school helping students brainstorm ideas for a personal narrative, Book Creator has templates that make it easy to get started. And don’t forget the Discover section, where teachers can find remixable books to customize and assign to their students. You are never starting from scratch; that is a huge time saver!
For all my listeners who are thinking about giving Book Creator a try, do it! It is intuitive, powerful, and, most importantly, student-centered. This tool is a great way to bring your students' learning to life. Whether you are a teacher or an administrator, this platform can amplify your school's creativity and engagement.
